My Reiki Treatments

Curiosity often brings people for their first Reiki treatment.

I understand that you may be a little apprehensive about booking your first Reiki treatment. I always find it a little difficult to explain exactly what it is, so I want to reassure you here about the session, and what to expect.

Almost all of my clients have become regular visitors - I believe that there is no right or wrong timeframe between treatments - you can come when you feel it is right. A session lasts between 45 minutes - allowing 1 hour is recommended.

I work with integrity, treating all my clients in a mutually respectful environment. I will always do my very best to channel the healing energies in the most positive and powerful way, with love.

What to expect

Your Reiki will be given in my beautiful garden studio treatment space. It is tranquil and private. I play some calming music quietly during the session. You will be asked to lay with your eyes closed on my treatment table (see picture above). I can provide you with a blanket to cover you, if you’d prefer, and I can provide pillows for your head and knees for your comfort. Some people say they fall asleep during the session, reporting vivid dreams and wild colours. Others say that they stayed fully awake, but lay with their eyes closed in a state of total relaxation and calm.

The treatment focusses around the 7 chakras, or energy centres (shown in the diagram below), affecting the mental, emotional and spiritual parts of your body.

Reiki is a hands-on treatment and I will put my hands on your body - over clothes and blankets - during the session. Please read the consent statement below, which more formally outlines the role of a Reiki Practitioner.

What to wear

I recommend that you wear loose, comfortable clothing. My treatment studio is heated/air conditioned, but to keep you as comfortable as possible, I would suggested layers work best. You will have the option of a blanket covering in addition to your clothing, and with energy treatment you may get warm.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique, which was rediscovered by Mikao Usui in 1922 who then shared it with the world. The Japanese word Reiki literally translates as “universal life force energy”.

The Oxford English dictionary defines Reiki as “A healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the client by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the client’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being.”

It is a non-invasive complementary therapy that has been taught and used in the UK since the late 1900s, but Eastern medicine has for thousands of years worked with this energy. It is widely accepted that Reiki can be given and received equally effectively hands-off or via distant healing.

In recent years, Reiki has become more widely accepted as an effective alternative therapy for health and wellbeing.

I am not a paid-up member of the UK Reiki Federation, but there is a helpful explanation of Reiki and its origins on their website.

Energy work consent

By booking a Reiki session, it is important to understand the following:

  • the Reiki session given involves a natural hands-on method of energy balancing for the purpose of pain management, stress reduction, and relaxation. By booking a session, you understand very clearly that these treatments are not intended as a substitute for medical or psychological care.

  • that Reiki practitioners do not diagnose conditions, nor do they prescribe medicines, nor interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional. It is recommended that you seek a licensed health care professional for any physical or psychological ailment that you may have.

  • the Reiki practitioner will be placing hands on me during the Reiki session.

“Natalie gave me a reading online and despite never having one done this way before it was clear to see that the connection was there as much as face to face. I found the reading comforting and uplifting. Having the reading in my own home made me more calm and relaxed..”
